The House of Atreus: a race cursed by the gods that, generation after generation, falls into blood feuds, infanticide, parricide and even cannibalism. A horrific cycle of violence from which the once noble family cannot escape. The senseless killing continues to be fueled by previous violence. The blood feud only comes to an end when Orestes - after murdering his mother - flees to the oracle in Delphi and Athena, goddess of wisdom, finally intervenes out of pity: she orders the Furies to leave Orestes alone because he and his lineage were in fact only a plaything for the whims of the gods all along. Unfortunately, a goddess of wisdom does not exist. The vicious cycle of violence of the House of Atreus still dominates our daily lives.
